Studio 104 Entertainment was founded in 2019 by four creatives; Mike Johnston, Diana Parry, Andy Alvarez, and Martin Calvo. From humble beginnings collaborating on each other's short films while completing their BFAs in Film Production at UBC in 2017 to championing an award-winning film and television production company in 2022.
Last year, Studio 104 Entertainment wrapped production on our first narrative feature, a co-production between Quebec and British Columbia titled "Wild Goat Surf." We now head into production this fall for our second narrative feature, "Memoria" - with filming set to take place in Canada and Colombia. Our budgets have grown from $5K to $5 million in the span of five years and our films have screened at various international and local film festivals. By cultivating strong relationships with streamers and Canadian broadcasters, our content can be found on CBC GEM, TELUS Optik TV and Apple TV and starting in 2023, they can be found on CRAVE as well.
Individually the four of us come from different backgrounds (Latin America, First Nations, European, and Canadian), which has pushed us to strive for inclusivity in all aspects of collaboration. Whether in development, production or post - creating a comfortable and inclusive space for creative dialogue is imperative to us as a company. We continue to push and challenge ourselves creatively while deciding what projects to take on. Teaming up with diverse filmmakers and lending artists a platform to share their voices and tell meaningful stories are a big part of why we make films.
